Home About About Nashville

Music City, USA.  The Third Coast.  Athens of the South.

Nashville has a world-wide reputation for its impact on the music and entertainment industries, which has proven to be a launching pad for offering its surrounding eight counties a wealth of opportunities.  While long associated with such American icons as Music Row and the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville today appeals to a wide range of interests.  Just as importantly, visitors and residents alike tend to embrace genuine courtesy here, the traditional Southern hospitality unusual in a city of Nashville's size.

With approximately 600,000 people over 533 square miles, Nashville is second only to Memphis as the largest city in Tennessee, but with the relaxed feel of having plenty of room for continued growth.  The beautiful Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is one of several parks that offer a blend of history and spaciousness amid the bustling activity surrounding it.

Successful professional sports teams call Nashville home, such as the NFL's Tennessee Titans, the NHL's Nashville Predators, and the Milwaukee Brewers AAA minor league affiliate, the Nashville Sounds.  Other attractions range from the Nashville Shores water park to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, which hosts the Nashville ballet, top recording artists and ensembles, and Broadway-quality plays performed regularly.  A wide range of restaurants are also generously spread throughout Nashville.

Colleges and universities are a foundational part of the city and its continued progress.  Twenty-four colleges, universities and technical schools, with over 85,000 students, are located in the Nashville area.  When in Nashville, expect to see college students of many different backgrounds, which provides a terrific opportunity for international outreach.

Some of the world's largest Christian publishers, such as Thomas Nelson, Lifeway, 21st Century Christian, Broadman and Holman, and others have settled in Nashville, setting a tone that honors God and His Word.  From a ministry perspective, Nashville presents the life struggles inherent in any city, such as homelessness, unemployment, drugs and alcoholism, prostitution, and a tremendous need for mentoring young people.  However, partnerships with local churches are proving to be powerful alliances for sharing God's love, and the Lord clearly has His hand on this city.

How is He calling you to be a part of it?
