Focus Nations: Malaysia

Prayer:
Please pray that the Malaysian government would relax restrictions against non-Muslim worship and literature, for more Bibles in Malay. Please be praying for more workers to go to Malaysia. Please be willing to be an answer to your own prayers.

Geography:
Situated in South Asia, Malaysia is a well-watered tropical nation with part of the country occupying part of the Kra Peninsula, and part of it occupying part of the island of Borneo.

Ethnicity:
There is an indigenous population of Malay and tribal people that make up a 58% majority with non-indigenous Chinese and Indians making up the largest part of the minority. There are a total of 137 languages, with only 15 having the full Bible translated.

Government:
Constitutional Monarchy.

Church:
Sunni Islam is the official religion in Malaysia, and non-Muslims face strong pressure to convert. It is illegal to try to convert a Muslim to Christianity. Only about 9% of the Malaysian population is Christian

The Need:
There is a great need for Christian workers in Malaysia to reach all sectors of Malaysian society. There is also a great need for Bibles and literature in Malay.
